Master craftsman hand-pouring cement tile in Tétouan atelier

The Craft

Handmade Cement Tiles
from Tétouan, Morocco.

Tétouan sits at the northern edge of the Rif Mountains, twelve kilometres from the Mediterranean. It is one of the oldest centres of Andalusian craft in North Africa — a city where the tile tradition did not need to be revived because it never stopped.

Morocco Cement Tiles was founded here in 2010, in an atelier in Commune Sadina, to supply the international architecture and design market with the real thing. Every tile starts with the same materials it always has: grey cement, white cement, fine sand, water, and mineral pigments ground to a consistency that will not fade under UV exposure or heavy foot traffic. The mix is poured by hand into a brass mold that holds the pattern, compressed under a hydraulic press, and then cured for 28 days. No kiln. No synthetic binders. No glaze. The matte surface you receive is the tile as it came out of the press.

We press between 3,000 and 5,000 m² per month. Our current catalog runs to 271 patterns across eight collections, with custom color matching available on an 8-week cycle. Tiles ship on any Incoterm — EXW, FOB Tanger, CPT, or DDP — depending on your logistics setup and project requirements. The minimum order is 50 m² — workable for a bathroom, a kitchen, or a feature wall. For hotel and hospitality projects, we routinely handle orders of 2,000 m² or more.

The slight variation you see across a batch — the way one tile is a fraction deeper in tone than the next — is not a defect. It is what you are buying. No two handmade batches are identical, and no machine-printed tile can replicate the depth of colour that mineral pigments pressed into cement produce. Architects who specify our tiles know this. Most of them come back.

The Process

Hand-poured into a brass mold, compressed under a hydraulic press, cured for 28 days without heat. No shortcuts. The matte surface you receive is exactly as it came from the press.

ASTM Certified

Every batch meets ASTM C936 and EN 13748. We inspect for pattern alignment, colour consistency, and dimensional tolerance before any tile leaves the atelier.

No Synthetics

Grey cement, white cement, fine sand, water, and mineral pigments. Zero synthetic binders, zero kiln energy, zero glaze. The tile is what comes out of the press — nothing added.

Direct Factory

We work directly with architects, designers, and distributors — no middlemen. That means direct communication on specs, custom colours, and project timelines.
